Three Ideas to Avoid In the Screen Printing Trade

Posted by Unknown | Wednesday, July 3, 2013 | Category: , , |

Screen printing has proven invaluable to the advertising industry many times over. With this technology, vehicle wraps, banner making and t-shirt printing can be done with creativity. This is why many entrepreneurial minds cannot wait to weigh and wade in this particular enterprise. However, there are three things that should be avoided when entering the screen printing business.

First is the misconception that artwork for screen printing is the same as in other design-based industries. The graphics (especially those for shirt designs) should be properly set up for screen printing and film positives. The lines and colors can easily be distorted when they are incorrectly put together in screen printing’s many components.

The second idea to shun is buying a startup kit and equipment without fully understanding how screen printing works. Sure, the right machinery and tools are important in this trade. However, the skills to create artworks that captivate are more important that implements. The advice of a person with years of experience in this venture should be sought.

The third thing to avoid is the notion that computer-generated heat transfers can do everything. This technology does not do justice to dark-colored custom-printed materials. This fact can limit the range of products a businessman can offer his customers.
